Ketamine Assisted Treatment (KAT)

A Comprehensive Guide for Clients

Treatment Schedule & Pricing

1. Intake & Medical Screening

Duration: 50 minutes

If we accept your insurance, we’ll bill directly to your plan. You’ll only be responsible for your copay or deductible, due at the time of service.

During this appointment, we review your health history, medications, and any conditions that might contraindicate KAT.

Some of these include:

  • Hypertension

  • History of TBI, stroke, concussions or seizures

  • Psychosis

  • Sleep apnea

  • Mania

  • Benzodiazepines, alcohol, and other prescribed medications that may make treatment less effective

  • Hormone levels that may make treatment less effective

  • Intraocular or intracranial pressure

At times, we may request medical clearance from your cardiologist, neurologist, or another specialist before proceeding. We also may require labs to be completed prior to starting treatment. Labs may indicate the need for taking care of baseline health issues either prior to starting or concurrently with KAT.

New Clients: Begin by setting up a portal and scheduling an intake session with Megan. Please send any labs obtained in the last 6 months as well as a copy of your Covid Vaccine or recent booster. The most current available booster is required for in person sessions to protect our providers throughout the cold and flu seasons.

Existing Clients: If you’ve already completed a medical screening, you may skip this step and simply add proof of most recent vaccine.

If you’re ready to move forward, please email us and we’ll send instructions for getting started with Ketamine Assisted Therapy.

2. Preparation Sessions

Format: Telehealth (no medicine)
Duration: 50 minutes each

These sessions help you prepare mentally, emotionally, and logistically for treatment. Typically, 1–3 sessions are required, depending on your experience level.

Preparation sessions are usually covered by insurance.

3. Loading Dose Series

Format: In-person Ketamine sessions
Schedule: 6 sessions over 2–3 weeks
Cost: $3,600

This is the most effective course, modeled after clinical trial protocols.
Example schedule: Tuesday and Thursday sessions for three weeks.

For clients choosing a shorter series (4 sessions), treatment occurs twice a week for two weeks.

3a. Single Sessions

Cost: $675 per session

Single sessions require full medical clearance, preparation, and integration.
If you decide to complete the full Loading Dose Series within 8 weeks of your first session, $75 will be deducted from the total cost.

4. Integration Sessions

Integration helps you process and apply insights gained during KAT.

These sessions are often covered by insurance and are typically scheduled at a ratio of 1 integration session per 2 ketamine sessions.

5. Ongoing Ketamine Maintenance

After completing the Loading Dose Series, we recommend scheduling maintenance sessions every 3 weeks for approximately 6 months.

Around the 6-month mark, the brain has been rewired and symptom resolution is possible.

Beyond this point, clients often schedule annual maintenance sessions, though individual needs vary.

As part of ongoing care, SSRI’s and other psychiatric medications are often tapered either during KAT or after the loading dose series.

Please note that medication management appointments are not combined with KAT sessions, Integration, or any supportive therapy appointments.

6. Costs & Insurance Coverage

Covered by insurance (for most plans):

  • Intake & Medical Screening

  • Preparation Sessions

  • Integration Sessions

Clients are responsible for copays and coinsurance.
If you plan to submit for reimbursement using a Superbill, please discuss this before starting treatment. (We do not offer discounted cash rates for those requesting reimbursement.)

7. Ketamine Lozenges

For clients working with an established therapist, ketamine lozenges may be prescribed as part of the therapeutic process. We do not prescribe lozenges for at home use.

Cost: Typically $60 for six to ten sessions. (Prices are not marked up by Somatrix and are set by the pharmacy.
Lozenges are an out-of-pocket expense and not covered by insurance.
